TAAM Gala Dinner 2026 Celebrates "Connecting Travel, Business & Opportunities in Malawi"

The Travel Agents Association of Malawi (TAAM) held its Gala Dinner 2026 on 24 July at Sunbird Capital Hotel, Lilongwe, under the theme "Connecting Travel, Business and Opportunity in Malawi."
The evening's Guest of Honour was Hon. Edgar Tembo, MP, Deputy Minister of Industrialization, Business, Trade and Tourism, who delivered the keynote address and officially opened the Gala Dinner. In his remarks, the Deputy Minister commended TAAM for creating a platform that unites Government, airlines, hotels, tour operators and development partners, describing travel agents as "destination marketers, trusted travel advisors, business facilitators, and ambassadors" who shape visitors' first impressions of Malawi. He highlighted air connectivity, public-private collaboration and professionalism as key pillars for growing the country's tourism industry.
The Principal Secretary responsible for Tourism also addressed guests, congratulating TAAM's leadership and membership for strengthening collaboration between Government and the private sector, and reaffirming the Ministry's commitment to creating an enabling environment for tourism businesses to thrive.

Guests also witnessed the TAAM President present a token of appreciation to the Guest of Honour, and shared a warm handshake marking the strong partnership between Government and the travel industry.
A highlight of the evening was the raffle draw, sponsored by Malawi Airlines and TAAM, in which one lucky guest walked away with a return ticket to Johannesburg.
